NBA Daily Wrap: Giannis opens season with triple-double
Three exciting games highlighted the NBA on Thursday night and featured a lot of exciting moments, with the most notable being Nigerian-Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo getting a triple-double the Milwaukee Bucks' opener against the Rockets in Houston.
The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Houston Rockets 117-111 on Giannis Antetokounmpo's 30-point, 13-rebound, 11-assist triple-double, Wesley Matthews had 14 points and four rebounds, Ersan Ilyasova had a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe combined for 22 with 11 points apiece.
Russell Westbrook led the Rockets with a 24-point, 16-rebound double-double, James Harden also had a double-double with 19 points and 14 assists, PJ Tucker had 17 points and seven rebounds, and another double-double came by way of Angolan/Congolese-Swiss center Clint Capela who finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
In other games on the night, the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors 141-122 on the back of Lou Williams' 22 points, three rebounds and eight assists, while Trae Young put up 38 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in the Atlanta Hawks' 117-100 win over the Detroit Pistons.
